Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris was born on October 20, 1964. She is an American politician. She is also the first female vice-president and the highest-ranking female official of the United American. A part of the Democratic Party, she previously served as attorney general for California from 2011 until 2017 and as the state's attorney general from 2011 to 2017 and as a United States senator representing California from 2017 to 2021. Harris was born and raised in Oakland, California. After establishing her career as an Alameda County District Attorney Harris was enlisted to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Later she became the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003, she became the San Francisco district attorney. In 2010, Harris was elected Attorney General for California. She was re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris beat Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate elections, becoming the 2nd African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to be a senator in the United States Senate. She was a senator , and was a vocal advocate for reforms to healthcare, federal cannabis de-scheduling, the possibility of citizenship for immigrants without a legal status and the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons and progressive tax reform. In the news, attention was paid to her outspoken questioning of Trump administration officials at Senate sessions. The most notable was Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual assault.
